April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players to have won medals more than once at an Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days, she'll try to net her third medal with fellow the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross is determined to earn more than her first Olympic medal. At 39, this could be her last chance to win the Olympic gold. She remains optimistic that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross was mentioned in NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your highest, and even do well, we'll get the gold. So I'm going to take a little bit of luck also. Ross was born in California in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa with her father, mother and sibling. Ross played in numerous sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running and track. She was definitely superior to the rest when it came to the second sport. As per her biography in high school, she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setter (outside blocker). In recognition of her work she was awarded the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her for volleyball. Although Ross Klineman and Ross are a couple from 2017 onward, the former had already been a major athlete on the beach long before their pairing. In reality, she was a winner of several major championships while playing in the past with two different partners. one of whom is the volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until the year 2013. Together with Kessy Ross was a force on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. The 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded the gold medal. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. The duo went on to earn the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans of USC in her college years after she graduated the high school she attended. Her time at USC was quite impressive. As a freshman in 2000 she fought her way to Pac-10 and NCAA The Freshman of the Year awards and earned an All-American. The Trojans could also reach the Final Four with her help. Her sophomore year was the time she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to be a second All-American. In her last two seasons with the Trojans team they won victory by winning the national title in consecutive years. For her part she established herself as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the most outstanding female college volleyball players in the nation. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to see Ross reach beach volleyball's highest stage. When Ross was a sophomore in USC her mother died of breast cancer. She has kept her mother in her the heart. Margie, on the beach as well as in her everyday life, continues to inspire her.
