Born on Jan. 19 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family which would later have 12 children. Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the difficulties of her life thanks to her expansive and imaginative imagination. Before she began learning to read and write she was making up her own songs. She bought her first guitar when she was just 8 years old and began singing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at eleven years old. In the same year she released her debut album Gold Band Records an independent small label. As a student in high school, she was able to make her mark locally but dreamed about a larger stage. When she graduated from high school in 1964, she swiftly went to Nashville. Her first charting hits on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer to perform on his show syndicated by him from the beginning. Parton was found in the year 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. She resigned in 1974. the show because of the success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats in Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it made it to No. Its first appearance at No. 1 was 1974.
