Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family and community service. The first line of his family was that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids who were raised in Eufala through Lucious Selmon. Two soccer. He is one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in all of the nation. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. The team also took home the national title twice. Third scholarship he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. 3 times, he was named All-Pro. He began his business career. In 1988, as an account liaison officer for First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. was the captain of the squad. In 1993, he was appointed the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
